About Oscar's Blog
In my first blog I’d like to warn all my readers that I may take you back in time once in a while as I have been called “The Godfather” of the Honda performance industry (I was also called the “Gray Beard of Tuning” by John Pearly Huffman but I don’t use that one because John has more gray in his beard than I do and I’m at least 10 years his senior) but it’s all good. I’m hoping that my blogs will keep everyone entertained and at the same time I’m hoping to help educate some of my younger audience (and some of the old ones too) about supercharging.

The thing is this: I get to work with supercharged cars every day. I get to work on a dyno every day. I get to machine parts every day. I don’t get to weld parts every day as I am a lousy welder. But in the big picture I love what I do. I love this industry. When I first started modifying Hondas 36 years ago I “hoped” it would turn into something great but I didn’t really imagine it would turn out as great as it has.

I am blessed to have won so many SCCA National Championships, SCORE Off Road Championships, and a few others in between. I’ve been blessed having drivers like Peter Cunningham and Lance Stewart start their careers driving my cars. And I am also blessed that my oldest son, Oscar Jr., loves this industry as much as I do and now races in the SCCA following in his father’s footsteps (with help from Uncle Lance Stewart). I quit racing full time when Oscar Jr. was born and now I’ve come full circle and I’m back working on Lance’s and Oscar Jr.’s race cars again. And it is a pleasure to be back racing again, especially with my son in the driver’s seat.

I have been building Honda performance products for almost 36 years, and I’m still here helping my customers and inventing new technologies and new products. I retired for five years, but in the words of “The Eagles” after they got back together, “We didn’t break up, we just took a 14-year vacation.” Well, I didn’t retire. I just took a five-year vacation.

And as Michael Corleone said in the movie The Godfather, “Just when I thought that I was out, they pull me back in…”

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
